Sports Portraits 2021

I was blessed to do more portrait work this year than in years past, between media day with the Amarillo Sod Poodles and several opportunities to photograph local athletes for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. I experimented with different lighting setups for the first time and have enjoyed the learning process of using those lights in different ways. Already looking forward to hopefully more portrait opportunities in 2022.

Football 2021

Another season of photographing football has come to an end in December. After missing the first several weeks of the season due to Sod Poodles season, I stayed busy with high school and college football games most weekends since uuSeptember. If my math is correct I wound up covering 16 games this season, ending with Rosevelt’s State semifinal game. I got to photograph Texas Tech football for Getty Images, and high school games for the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Amarillo Globe News, Press Pass Sports, and Hub City Preps. Here are some of my favorites from football season 2021.

Amarillo Sod Poodles 2021

After there was no Minor League Baseball season in 2020, it was great to be back with the Sod Poodles in 2021. Having moved to Lubbock last year, we had to work to figure out how to make this season work. Luckily the schedule worked out so that I was able to shoot every weekend series, and wound up covering 35 of the 60 home games for the Soddies. Here are my favorite shots from another memorable season in Amarillo.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs Seattle Mariners

On September 3rd and 4th, 2021 I had the opportunity to photograph a couple games between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Seattle Mariners. This was my first time shooting regular season Major League Baseball games and it was an unforgettable experience. I’m extremely thankful to the Amarillo Sod Poodles and Arizona Diamondbacks for affording me this opportunity. It was great to see a couple former Sod Poodles in the Majors as well – Luis Torrens, 2019 Sod Poodle, now with the Mariners, and Jake McCarthy, 2021 Sod Poodle, now with the DBacks.
